ICEHOGS STAR WARS JERSEYS NOW ON THE AUCTION BLOCK

Star Wars Jersey Auction

Rockford, Ill. – After another successful jersey auction night on March 20, the Rockford IceHogs are making available two more Star Wars jerseys and a customized Star Wars goalie mask.

The Star Wars themed sweaters were part of the club's 17th Annual Jersey Auction to benefit Special Olympics - Illinois. Proudly sporting their new dark threads, the IceHogs defeated the Charlotte Checkers 2-1 in a 13-round shootout, which matched the team's longest game ever.

The majority of the Star Wars themed jerseys were auctioned off in a live auction out on the BMO Harris Bank Center ice following the game, raising a total of nearly $75,000. Two of the jerseys, including an autographed Kyle Cumiskey and a customizable Star Wars sweater, are now available in an online auction at the team’s eBay store. The customized sweater cannot contain any names of current IceHogs players.

The online auction will also feature a Star Wars goalie mask designed for Michael Leighton by Ronnie Espig and Hellion Designs. The mask, provided by Wall, is autographed by Leighton and Drew MacIntyre, two the American Hockey League’s winningest goaltenders. Leighton was scheduled to wear the mask during the game on March 20 but due to NHL recall he was unavailable.

The auction is open now by clicking here and will close on Tuesday, March 29 at 7 p.m. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Special Olympics - Illinois.
