ICEHOGS SIGN VAN RIEMSDYK TO AHL DEAL
Rockford signs collegiate defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk to AHL contract
Rockford, Ill. – The American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs have announced today that they signed defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk to an AHL contract for the remainder of the 2013-14 season. Van Riemsdyk also signed a two-year contract with the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday that takes effect at the start of the 2014-15 season.
Van Riemsdyk, brother of the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs left wing James van Riemsdyk, is joining the IceHogs after finishing his junior season at the University of New Hampshire. The Middletown, New Jersey defenseman recorded 4g-19a-23pts in 26 games for the Wildcats this season. Van Riemsdyk finished his collegiate career with 16g-59a-75pts over his three year run.
Prior to attending the University of New Hampshire, Van Riemsdyk played two seasons for the EJHL’s New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs. Over 70 games with the Jr. Monarchs, van Riemsdyk recorded 24g-49a-73pts and won two Gary Dineen Cups (EJHL championship).
