ICEHOGS SIGN TYLER MOTTE TO ATO

Rockford, Ill. - The Rockford IceHogs, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the 2015 Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks, announced that they have signed forward Tyler Motte to an amateur tryout contract (ATO).

The 21 year-old forward finished among the ten finalists for the Hobey Baker Award this season, which is given annually to the best player in collegiate hockey. After totaling 18 points (9g-9a) and 31 points (9g-22a) in his freshman and sophomore years at the University of Michigan, Motte exploded in his junior season for 32 goals and 24 assists, and finished third in the country in points behind teammates JT Compher and Kyle Connor.

Motte was drafted in the fourth round (#121 overall) by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. The Port Huron, MI native makes the jump to professional hockey after signing a three-year entry-level contract with the Chicago Blackhawks on Apr. 6, 2016 that will begin at the start of the 2016-17 season.

Before playing for the Wolverines, Motte played for the U.S. National Development team for two seasons, where he helped the United States claim a silver medal at the 2013 IIHF World U-18 Championship.
