ICEHOGS SIGN SVENDSEN TO PTO

Rockford, Ill.- Chicago Blackhawks General Manager of Minor League Affiliations Mark Bernard announced on Tuesday that the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs have signed forward Brandon Svendsen to a professional try-out (PTO).

Svendsen, 26, has appeared in 28 games for the Kalamazoo Wings and is currently tenth in the ECHL in scoring, leading the Wings with 13 goals and 22 assists. The Maplewood, Minn. native was with the IceHogs during training camp on a try-out, scoring a goal in three preseason contests for Rockford.

A product of Bowling Green State University, Svendsen has played 137 AHL tilts, compiling 13 goals and 22 assists along with 79 penalty minutes.

The 5-foot-10-inch, 180-pound winger has suited up for five AHL contests this year with the Binghamton Senators, recording an assist. Svendsen spent the majority of the 2010-11 with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, appearing in 61 games and posting seven goals and nine assists.

Next Home Game: Monday, Jan. 16 vs. Texas Stars. Game time is 1:05 p.m. The IceHogs return home for the first time in more than two weeks for the annual Martin Luther King Jr. matinee game to take on the Stars for the second and final time at the BMO Harris Bank Center. The first 1,500 kids 14 and under will pick up an IceHogs Drawstring Bag courtesy of Frito Lay.
