ICEHOGS SIGN CARLSSON TO AHL DEAL
Rockford, Ill. – The Rockford IceHogs, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the 2015 Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks, announced today that they have released defenseman Jonathan Carlsson from his PTO and signed him to an AHL contract.
Carlsson, 27, has recorded six points (1g-5a) skated in 16 games with the IceHogs this season after being signed to a PTO on Feb. 15. The defenseman notched his first goal with the team on Wed., March 24 in Rockford’s 4-2 loss against Lake Erie.
Before coming to the IceHogs this season, Carlsson saw playing time in 46 games with the ECHL’s Evansville IceMen, recording one goal and four assists.
The Uppsala, Sweden native was drafted in the sixth round (#162 overall) by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. He split time between the IceHogs and Toledo Walleye in the 2009-10 season, scoring one goal in 19 games for Rockford, and recording 10 points (4g-6a) in 27 contests with the Walleye.
