Rockford, IL - The Rockford IceHogs fell short against the Texas Stars on Friday night, losing 5-0 inside the BMO Center.
Texas took advantage of some early puck luck, scoring two goals off of Rockford sticks. The first tally for the Stars was credited to Curtis McKenzie, with the second belonging to Cameron Hughes.
After the IceHogs killed off a Texas power play, the Stars' Kyle McDonald got loose by the near post and pushed the lead to 3-0 at 15:47 of the 1st period.
In the middle frame, Samuel Savoie brought the BMO Center to its feet when he dropped the gloves against Matthew Seminoff.
The Stars extended the lead to 4-0 while on the power play early in the 3rd. Jack Becker located a rebound outside the crease and made no mistake. While shorthanded, Texas ballooned the advantage 5-0 while shorthanded when Becker fed Harrison Scott cruising through the IceHogs zone.
Arno Tiefensee shut the door the rest of the way for Texas and finished with a 23 save shutout.
