Screw City Nights at the Rockford IceHogs are back for the 2026-27 season and promise to be better than ever. The IceHogs will wear the team’s Screw City white jerseys as their alternate sweater for six games in the 2026-27 season, starting on Opening Night on Oct. 3. 

What else can fans expect at the Screw City IceHogs games this season?

Screw City SWAG

Five of the Screw City games this season include Screw City themed promotional giveaways including T-shirts (10/3), light-up rally towels (11/14) for adults 21+, youth jerseys (12/27) for kids 14 & under, winter beanies (1/22) for adults 21+, and Brett Seney bobbleheads (2/27).

“White Outs”

All six Screw City games this season (10/3/26, 11/14/26, 12/27/26, 1/22/27, 2/27/27, 4/10/27) will be “white out” games with fans encouraged to wear their favorite white IceHogs or Screw City apparel. 

Screw City Hat Trick Pack

With our Screw City Hat Trick Pack you get tickets to your choice of three Screw City games plus a Screw City hat and an entry for a chance to win a customized Screw City white replica jersey for each package purchased. For example, if you purchase two tickets/packages, you receive two seats for three Screw City games, two hats, and two entries for a chance to win the jersey. Package costs: $99 (lower end seats); $75 (upper end seats) + fees.  

New Merch

An all-new line of Screw City merchandise will be available in the Team Store and online all season long, including replica versions of the Screw City white jerseys.

Screw City Progressive Raffle

Exclusively at the six Screw City games this season, fans who purchase a 50/50 raffle ticket will also have the opportunity to buy in to a secondary, progressive 50/50 raffle that will only be sold at Screw City games. This jackpot will compound at each Screw City game with the grand prize ticket number being drawn at the home finale Screw City Night on Saturday, April 10. 

Screw City Sips

Fans will be able to enjoy exclusive drink specials at every Screw City game this season, including specialty screwdrivers for $13 and 16 oz. cans of Prairie Street Screw City Light for just $8.

Why did the IceHogs adopt the Screw City name?

Rockford is known by many nicknames with one of the most interesting ones being “Screw City.” As the demand for fasteners rose along with the demand for war time machinery, and due to the region’s production and manufacturing capabilities, Rockford began to be heavily supported through U.S. Government contracts from the First World War all the way through the Cold War. By the 1940’s, Rockford became known as the “Screw Capital of the World” and by the 1960’s the city was ranked as the fifth largest manufacturer of fasteners in the nation. Manufacturing remains a vital part of the Rockford economy to this day.

To honor the region's rich manufacturing history, the Rockford IceHogs adopted the Screw City moniker as an "alternate identity" during the 2022-23 season, complete with a unique Screw City logo and jersey that the team wore for three games that season. 

The response from fans was strong. A new jersey was designed for the 2023-24 campaign and was worn for three games that season. Slowly but surely, the sight of fans wearing Screw City jerseys and apparel at IceHogs games and around town started becoming commonplace. 

Then came Opening Night on Oct. 12, 2024. The IceHogs skated out for pregame warmups in their home white jerseys. Business as usual. Lights out. Time for player introductions. In front of a capacity crowd, the Hogs reemerged from the tunnel rocking their new Screw City black jerseys with the Screw City "R" on the crest. Audible gasps were followed by a mass exodus of fans beelining to the team store to get their hands on one. A legendary sweater was born. 

After a second full season of wearing the black Screw City sweaters as the team's alternate jersey, the IceHogs shocked the home crowd once again for the home finale on April 10, 2026. After skating out in their home whites for pregame warmups, a quick change was made in the locker room, and the Hogs came roaring back out for intros in the new Screw City whites. Fans were quick to dub them the "Stormtrooper" jerseys and the jerseys again sold out in record time that night in the team store.
