Rockford, IL - The Rockford IceHogs fell on home ice 5-2 to the Iowa Wild on Friday night inside the BMO Center.

The IceHogs struck first, 7:03 in with a dynamic passing play in the offensive zone. After Sam Rinzel protected the puck at the blue line, he spotted Ethan Del Mastro at the goal line. The defenseman then fed Dominic Toninato by the back post to tap in his 10th of the year.

Iowa pulled even converting off of a Rockford turnover with Dylan Gambrell finishing on a backhand in tight. Less than a minute later the Wild took a 2-1 lead when Caedan Bankier converting on a breakaway from the neutral zone.

Now trailing, Rockford went the penalty kill, but it was the Hogs who found the net. Toninato broke into the zone alone and fooled Iowa's Cal Petersen with a deke to his forehand.

The Wild grabbed a 3-2 lead on the power play in the early stages of the 3rd period. Gambrell banged in his second of the night from the slot with a shot that went post and in.

Iowa doubled the advantage with a seeing-eye wrister from defenseman Matt Kiersted. Jean-Luc Foudy put the finishing touches on a 5-2 Iowa win with an empty-net goal.
