Week 15 Recap:
Starting the week with an away game against the Grand Rapids Griffins, the IceHogs fell to the defending Calder Cup Champions by a score of 4-2. The weekend brought a change of fortune and a back-to-back vs. the Lake Erie Monsters. After trading goals with the Monsters in game one, the IceHogs took the final lead of the game in the third period to fight past Lake Erie. Game two wasn’t the same type of nailbiter as Rockford scored six goals and went three for five on the power play for their own special teams driven victory to end Week 15.

Bacon Bits:
-The IceHogs won back-to-back games this weekend for the first time in nearly a month, dating back to Dec. 14.
-The Hogs scored a season-high six goals on Saturday in their most lopsided win of the season, knocking off Lake Erie 6-1.
-For the first time in 10 games the IceHogs penalty kill did not surrender a power play goal on Friday.
-The Hogs PK held the Monsters off the board in both games over the weekend, going a perfect 10-for-10.
-Meanwhile, the IceHogs power play is heating up as the club has recorded a goal with a man advantage in seven straight contests (10 for 25) converting 40% during that span.
-Forward Alex Broadhurst attempted Rockford’s third penalty shot, and his second, on the season but was denied by Sami Aittokallio in the first period on Friday.
-In the IceHogs 6-1 win over Lake Erie on Saturday, defenseman Klas Dahlbeck tied a franchise single-game record for assists and points by a defenseman with four.
-Dahlbeck tied the mark that Brian Connelly set with four helpers on Nov. 23, 2011 against San Antonio.
-Defenseman Adam Clendening saw his five-game point streak snapped on Saturday when he was held without a point.
-Rockford’s leading scorer had one goal and seven assists during his hot streak and now ranks third in the AHL with 26 helpers on the season.
-On Saturday, Rockford allowed just one goal, the first time since a 2-1 overtime win on Nov. 27 against Milwaukee in which the Hogs allowed fewer than two goals, a stretch of 17 games.
-During that 17-game stretch, Rockford allowed fewer than three goals just once (Jan. 14 vs. Grand Rapids, 4-2 win).
-Over their last 15 games, the IceHogs have been tagged with eight minor penalties for too many men on the ice.

Hot Hog: Week 15
Left Wing Jeremy Morin

Forward Jeremy Morin helped get the IceHogs back to their winning ways, notching a point in each of Rockford’s three games during Week 15. The Auburn, New York native opened the week with an assist on Wednesday in Grand Rapids. When the Hogs returned home for a weekend pair against Lake Erie, Morin helped spark the offense as he registered his fourth multi-point effort of the season on Friday with a goal and two assists. The next night, the fourth year pro recorded his team-high third game winning tally as the Hogs dominated the Monsters 6-1 on Saturday. Morin shows points (3g-5a) in six of his last seven tilts, and ranks tied for fifth on the club’s scoring chart with 20 points in 24 games this season.
