IceHogs Fall Despite Athanasiou's Goals
November 13
The Rockford IceHogs today announced that they have acquired forward Liam Folkes from the Bakersfield Condors in exchange for future considerations.
Folkes, 25, split his rookie season with the Condors and Frederikshavn White Hawks in Denmark in 2021, appearing in six games with the Condors, scoring one goal. Overseas, the Scarborough, Ontario, native picked up one goal and two assists for three points in 14 contests.
Prior to turning pro, the 5-foot-8, 176-pound center skated four seasons at Penn State University alongside IceHogs forward and Chicago Blackhawks prospect Evan Barratt, totaling 103 points (48G, 55A) in 137 games and helped the Nittany Lions capture the Big 10 championship in 2017 and the regular-season title in 2020.
