ICEHOGS RAISE MORE THAN $10,000 FROM BOWL-A-THON
5th Annual Bowl-A-Thon results in record amount raised
Rockford, Ill. – In their 5th Annual Bowl-A-Thon, the Rockford IceHogs teamed up with the Sydney Ives Foundation to raise more than $10,000.
The annual event was once again held at The Cherry Bowl in Cherry Valley. All 32 lanes were filled with fans, players, IceHogs staff and local celebrities, including the weeknight night WIFR news team. Prizes were raffled off throughout the event, and the IceHogs donned special bowling shirts that fans bid on through a blind silent auction.
More than $43,000 has been raised, with proceeds benefitting local charities, through the bowl-a-thon in the five years that the IceHogs have held the event.
A special thanks goes out to WIFR, U.S. Cellular, Noodles & Company, Outback Steakhouse and Great Clips for helping sponsor the event.
The Sydney Ives Foundation is a non-profit organization that is designed to help families in the fight for the life of their ill child. The foundation is in memory of Sydney Ives. Sydney was made an honorary IceHogs team member on May 20, 2009 after she was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor the year prior. She passed away on Nov. 7, 2009.
