Rockford makes first trip to Texas in Week 11

Week 10 Recap
A five-game win streak came to an end on Sunday in a hard-faught battle with the Manitoba Moose, but the Rockford IceHogs took hold of second place in the American Hockey League’s West Division and built a bit of a cushion in Week 10. The Hogs make their first trip to Texas to play the Texas Stars and Houston Aeros in Week 11.

Bacon Bits:
-Rockford won five straight games (11/27-12/5) in regulation for the first time since joining the American Hockey League

-The last time the team won five straight was a six-game streak from 10/12/08-10/26/08

-The streak in 2008-09 included three shootout wins

-The IceHogs started a different goalie in each of their three games this weekend

-Dan Cloutier started his first professional hockey game in more than 18 months on Sunday, stopping eight of nine shots in a no decision

-Winger Kyle Greentree extended his point streak to seven games on Sunday (5g-4a), the team’s longest of the season and second longest in the league

-Winger Jack Skille’s point streak came to an end at five games (2g-5a) on 12/2/09

-Goalie Alec Richards picked up his second career AHL win on Friday in Grand Rapids

-Both wins were in Grand Rapids, handing the Griffins their second and third home regulation losses of the season

-The line combination of Skille (4g-6a), Greentree (5g-4a) and Bracken Kearns (2g-6a) are responsible for half (11 of 22) of the team’s goals since 11/25/08 and 45 percent of the team’s points (27 of 60) in that time

-The IceHogs set a season high with 83 penalty minutes on Sunday, 54 more than the previous mark

-Defenseman Daryl Boyle is +12 on the season, good enough for seventh among active players in the AHL

-He also needs just one point to match his total from his rookie season in 2008-09

-Before Sunday, the Hogs had not allowed four goals in a regulation game since Nov. 13 vs. Texas

-They also had not allowed three power play goals in a game since Oct. 14 vs. Chicago

Hot Hog Week 10:
Winger Kyle Greentree finished the week with three goals and two assists, extending his active point streak to seven games (11/21/09- ) a week after breaking out of a personal long eight-game point drought. Greentree is +8 with five goals and four assists during the streak. The winger recorded the game-winning goal in Rockford’s 4-2 win over Lake Erie on Saturday.


Upcoming Games:
Friday, Dec. 11 at Texas Stars: The game starts at 7:30 p.m. Rockford makes its first ever trip to the Cedar Park Center to face the Texas Stars. The two clubs will meet four times in suburban Austin and eight times overall this season.

Saturday, Dec. 12 at Texas Stars:
The second of back-to-back games in Cedar Park gets underway at 7:05 p.m. The Rockford IceHogs look to improve their 0-2-1-0 record against the Texas Stars in this weekend set.

Sunday, Dec. 13 at Houston Aeros:
The game will begin at 4:05 p.m. The IceHogs complete their Texas weekend with a trip to the Toyota Center for a Sunday matinee. It is the first of eight meetings between the two teams.
