ICEHOGS OUT AT SHAREFEST AND RELAY FOR LIFE THIS WEEKEND
Rockford, Ill.- It’ll be a busy weekend for the Rockford IceHogs as the American Hockey League team’s front office staff will be taking part in several community events and initiatives. On the list of community events for the IceHogs includes Rockford Sharefest, Relay For Life and Rock’n for the Red with the American Red Cross.
On Friday the IceHogs and MetroCentre staff members will assist other community volunteers in this summer’s Rockford Sharefest at East High School. Staff members will help rehab East High School as Rockford’s oldest high school gets a make over.
Sharefest is in its third year in Rockford and this year’s event is expected to have over 4,000 volunteers putting in over 40,000 volunteer hours. Summerdale Elementary School is also receiving a make over this year courtesy of Rockford Sharefest. For more information about Rockford Sharefest, visit www.rockfordsharefest.com.
Then on Friday night the IceHogs and MetroCentre’s staff will turn in the paint brushes and hammers for walking shoes as they take part in Relay For Life. The event begins at 6 p.m. and is at Rockford First Assembly Church on Spring Creek and Mulford.
The IceHogs Booster Club will also be on hand and will sponsor an “IceHogs” hour. Fans are encouraged to wear a jersey from their favorite sports team during the “IceHogs” hour from 11 p.m.-midnight. Relay For Life celebrates cancer survivors and participants can also walk in remembrance of cancer victims.
On Saturday the IceHogs are a presenting sponsor for this year’s Rock’n for the Red with the Rock River Red Cross. Hammer Hog will be in the Kids Zone at Davis Park from 3-5 p.m. for the event that features live music and entertainment.
Rock’n for the Red is from noon to 11 p.m. and tickets can be purchased for $5 in advance and $7 at the gate. Tickets can be pre-purchased at any Logli location in the Rockford area or at Pegasus Music.
