ICEHOGS, METROCENTRE STAFF TO ASSIST IN SHAREFEST
Hogs and MetroCentre staff members to help out at Flinn Middle School
Rockford, Ill.-Rockford Sharefest 2008 is set to get underway and staff members from the Rockford IceHogs and Rockford MetroCentre will participate in the community event. Sharefest is an initiative started by Heartland Community Church in Rockford in 2007, and this year’s event runs from June 14-28.
Sharefest entails fixing up Rockford School District Public Schools. This year’s Sharefest will focus on East High School, Flinn Middle School and Stiles Elementary School. The IceHogs and MetroCentre front office members will help other volunteers repair, restore and refurbish Flynn Middle School on Tuesday, June 17.
Last year, 2,300 volunteers donated over 14,200 hours of time to the Rockford Sharefest Project in the Rockford community. This community initiative has been picked up by several area churches and businesses in the Rock River Valley and there is no religious doctrine involved in the project.
“It is a beautiful thing when we all partner together around such an important part of our community… the kids. This act of support and kindness will have untold impact,” says Mark Bankord, Directional Leader of Heartland Community Church.
This June, Sharefest will assist in repairing over 250,000 square feet of building space that serves more than 2,800 students every year.
