Rockford, IL - The Rockford IceHogs couldn't find the offensive mark in a 3-1 loss to the Chicago Wolves on Friday night inside the BMO Center.
In the 1st period, Stanislav Berezhnoy helped the Hogs keep the game scoreless with multiple acrobatic saves in the crease.
The game would stay without a goal until 15:12 of the 2nd frame. Chicago's Domenick Fensore shot from the right point and Gleb Trikozov deflected the puck in the slot.
Gavin Hayes thought he had equalized in the final minutes of the period while on the power play, but the goal was taken off the board for goaltender interference.
The Wolves came out with two quick strikes to start the 3rd period in the span of 37 seconds. First it was Chicago's leading goal scorer Justin Robidas who finished off a two-on-one rush. Then moments later, Evan Vierling's solo effort from the far dot beat Berezhnoy to the far side.
Rockford got one back with 13 minutes to go in the 3rd. Brett Seney fed Red Pitlick at the near circle who blasted his shot past the Wolves' Cayden Primeau.
The Hogs pushed in the final minutes but couldn't pull any closer.
Next up, the IceHogs host the Manitoba Moose on Saturday, January 10 at 7:00 p.m. inside the BMO Center. It's "Star Wars Night" in Rockford with tickets available at icehogs.com.
