IceHogs Ink Goaltender Adam Gajan to ATO
The Rockford IceHogs announced that the team has signed goaltender Adam Gajan to an ATO contract. Earlier today, the Chicago Blackhawks announced that the NHL club has agreed to terms with the goalie on a two-year, entry-level contract that runs through the 2027-28 season ($1,050,000 salary cap hit).
Gajan, 21, posted career highs in games played (33), wins (19), save percentage (.908), goals-against average (2.25) and shutouts (2) with the University of Minnesota Duluth (NCHC) during the 2025-26 campaign. He was named the NCHC Goaltender of the Month for October and led the Bulldogs to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2022. The netminder also competed with the U.S. Collegiate Selects at the 2025 Spengler Cup, logging a 1-1-0 record, a .873 SV% and a 4.03 GAA.
The 6-foot-3, 189-pound goaltender compiled a 26-25-2 record, a .899 SV%, a 2.65 GAA and three shutouts in 54 career games with the Bulldogs from 2024-26. Prior to his collegiate career, Gajan appeared in 49 regular-season games with the Green Bay Gamblers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) from 2022-24, tallying a 28-13-4 record, a .894 SV%, a 3.84 GAA and one shutout. He also made one trip to the USHL postseason with Green Bay, posting a 2-2-1 record with a .901 SV% and a 2.86 GAA.
Internationally, the Poprad, Slovakia native represented Slovakia at the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026, marking his first appearance in the Olympics. He also competed with Team Slovakia at the 2023 and 2024 IIHF World Junior Championships, compiling a 5-3-0 record, a .927 SV%, a 2.45 GAA and two shutouts. Additionally, he earned Best Goaltender honors at the 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship, notching a 2-2-0 record, a .936 SV%, a 2.40 GAA and one shutout.
Gajan was selected by the Blackhawks in the second round (35th overall) of the 2023 NHL Draft.
