Dent and Bernard join players in raising money to fight cancer
Rockford, Ill. – Rockford IceHogs Head Coach Ted Dent announced on Tuesday that he will make a donation following the 2011-12 campaign to help fight children’s cancer.
In his first season as Rockford’s bench boss, Dent will make a donation to children’s cancer research for every goal the IceHogs score in 2011-12.
“After being in Rockford for five years, I just wanted to give something back to the community,” said Dent. “This is an easy opportunity for me to assist children and their families who are not as fortunate.”
Additionally, Chicago Blackhawks General Manager of Minor League Affiliations Mark Bernard will support the IceHogs Movember initiative by donating $10 for every goal the IceHogs score during the month of November, along with $20 for every win.
IceHogs players, coaches and front office personnel have already started growing mustaches for Movember to help raise awareness and money for the Regional Cancer Center at Swedish American Hospital.
Fans can vote which IceHogs player they think is sporting the best “stache” by donating to that player’s donation jug at each IceHogs home game in November. The donation jars will be displayed by the U.S. Cellular Fan Zone on the main concourse of the BMO Harris Bank Center with an updated photo of each player’s mustache.
In addition to the IceHogs Movember initiative, Brandon Bollig, along with a few teammates, are participating in the Hockey Players For Kids' Movember movement. Fans can join Bollig in HP4K's fan contest by sending their best Movember mustache pictures to info@hp4k.org for a chance to win some HP4K gear. Each entry should include a full name and email address.
Next Home Game: Wednesday, Nov. 16 vs. Oklahoma City at 7:05 p.m. Take advantage of Taco Bell Dollar Days at the BMO Harris Bank Center as fans can get $1 beers, sodas, hot dogs and companion tickets.
