IceHogs Fall Short 3-2 to Close out the Year

Rockford, IL - The Rockford IceHogs comeback fell short and lost 3-2 to the Chicago Wolves on Wednesday night inside the BMO Center.
In the 1st period, the Rockford penalty killed was tested twice and kept Hogs' goaltender Laurent Brossoit busy early. The Hogs goaltender stood tall, with multiple pad saves in tight to keep the game scoreless.
In the first minute of the 2nd period, Justin Robidas opened the scoring on a tip pass in front of the net. The IceHogs countered back at 7:35 of the middle frame. Rem Pitlick spotted Kevin Lombardi by the back post and the righty roofed his shot to pull the Hogs even 1-1.
The Wolves regained their lead 2-1 with a one-time tally from Ryan Suzuki. The Chicago forward was set up on a cross ice pass from Domenick Fensore.
Rockford earned a power play in the 3rd, but it was Bradley Nadeau who converted first with a shorthanded breakaway to double the Chicago lead.
Lombardi pounced back with a PPG for his second of the night to bring Rockford back within one goal, 3-2.
Rockford pushed late pulling Brossoit for the extra attacker but couldn't find another tying goal.
