IceHogs Face Wild With Chance to Sweep the Weekend at the BMO Center
Rockford, IL - The Rockford IceHogs are back in the BMO Center after a comeback victory last night. The IceHogs will take on the Iowa Wild this evening on Toy Story Night, Sunday, November 8th, at 4:00 p.m.
The Matchup:
Last Time Out: The IceHogs and Wild last played on Thursday, November 5th, in Des Moines. The Wild secured a win on their home ice in a 4-3 shootout victory.
The IceHogs trailed 3-1 in the 3rd, before Brett Seney scored two clutch power-play goals in a 34-second span to knot the game 3-3 and send it to overtime. After a scoreless overtime period, the IceHogs would enter their first shootout of the season. Seney, Gavin Hayes, and Connor Mackey all scored on their attempts, but in the sixth and final round, Iowa's Riley Heidt netted the game-winner. Drew Commesso ended the night with 30 saves, while Iowa's William Rousseau stood tall with 34 stops of his own.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
First Seed Takedown: Last night was one to celebrate in the BMO Center. Trailing 3-0 to the top-seeded Grand Rapids Griffins after the 1st period, the IceHogs came to form in the 2nd. Jamie Engelbert scored his first goal of the season to make it a two-goal game, and then Rockford opened the floodgates. Four more consecutive IceHogs goals gave the IceHogs a 5-3 lead heading into the second intermission. The Griffins would score in the 3rd to bring the game within a goal, but an empty-net finish from A.J. Spellacy solidified a 6-4 IceHogs win.
Rookies Heating Up: In the victory over the Grand Rapids Griffins last night, the IceHogs youth had a major coming-out party. Spellacy, Sacha Boisvert, and Marek Vanacker all scored the first goals of their AHL careers in the red-hot second period. Vanacker doubled down on his offensive performance, adding a second goal just seven minutes after his first. Vanacker, Boisvert, and Spellacy were awarded the 3 Stars of the Game, respectively.
Season Series: The IceHogs and Wild will play for the fifth time this season this evening. The season series has been incredibly close, with the Wild holding a 3-1 lead. Three of the four matchups between Rockford and Iowa have been decided by a single goal, and the largest margin of victory was a 2-0 Iowa win on Nov. 16th, 2026. After Thursday's matchup went all the way to a shootout, these two teams have seen plenty of ice time against one another.
