Rosemont, IL - The Rockford IceHogs came up just short to the Chicago Wolves on Sunday inside Allstate Arena losing 4-2.
Rockford jumped out to an early lead with Ryan Gagnier's second goal of the weekend. The center bullied his way to the front of the net and beat Chicago's Pyotr Kochetkov.
The Wolves responded with under five minutes to play in the 1st when Gleb Trikozov banked in the tying goal off a skate in front of the net.
In the opening minutes of the 2nd period, Trikozov finished off his second of the game with a backhand assist courtesy of Ivan Ryabkin.
Chicago earned some insurance with Noah Philp deflecting in a wrist shot off the back post for a 3-1 lead at 4:49 of the 3rd period.
The Hogs got back within a goal with a power play strike off the stick of Dmitri Kuzmin. The Rockford defender scored for his second-straight game letting it go from the near circle. Felix Unger Sorum added on an empty-net Chicago goal for the 4-2 final.
In his professional debut in net, Adam Gajan stopped 36 Wolves shots.
Up next, the IceHogs continue their road trip against the Stars in Texas on Friday, September 17 at 7:00 p.m.
