IceHogs Continue Dominance Over Wild, Skate to 5-2 Win

Des Moines, IA - The Rockford IceHogs began their home-and-home series with the Iowa Wild on the right foot, winning 5-2 inside the Casey's Center on Friday night.
The Wild broke through on their second power play of the 1st period to take a 1-0 lead at 13:40. Nicolas Aube-Kubel finished off a quick entry to the right of IceHogs' goalie Olivier Rodrigue.
Rockford punched back with two goals in three minutes to take a 2-1 lead in the final moments of the period. Jiri Felcman earned his first AHL point on a cross zone pass to Cavan Fitzgerald who finished off a two-on-one rush.
With 35 seconds to go in the period, Brett Seney skated in on a breakaway from center ice and deked to his backhand for the finish.
Iowa pulled even 2-2 with another PPG, this time of the stick of captain Ben Jones at 3:41 of the 2nd period. Jake Furlong gave the Hogs a lead right back with a seeing-eye wrist shot from the slot to head into the final 20 minutes.
Rockford added insurance while on the power play early in the 3rd period. After drawing the penalty, Joey Anderson made the Wild pay himself, knocking in a rebound off of Derrick Pouliot's point shot.
Seney added on his second goal of the night snapping home his 14th of the year into the top right corner with two minutes to go. Rodrigue earned the win finishing with 17 saves.
Up next, the IceHogs host the Wild on Saturday, April 4 inside the BMO Center. The puck drops at 7:00 p.m. in downtown Rockford.
