ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Rockford IceHogs’ annual Teddy Bear Toss is slated for this Saturday’s home game (Dec. 2) against the Texas Stars at 6 p.m.
Fans are invited to bring new or gently-used teddy bears or stuffed animals to the BMO Harris Bank Center to toss on the ice after the IceHogs score their first goal of the game.
Each bear will then be collected for donation to Rockford-area hospitals and kids’ charities. IceHogs players will visit hospitals in the area to drop off the donated bears. The IceHogs collected and donated a total of 3,491 teddy bears last season.
In addition to bears brought by fans, Chicago Blackhawks Senior Director of Minor League Affiliations Mark Bernard will donate 25 bears (one bear for each goal the IceHogs scored in the month of November) as part of the annual “Bernie’s Bears” challenge. Fans who would like to participate in the challenge are invited to also bring 25 bears to Saturday night’s game.
NOTE: The Teddy Bear Toss is an exclusion from the IceHogs’ game-day clear-bag policy. Fans may bring other bags to carry the stuffed animals, with all baggage subject to inspection upon entrance to the arena.
Red Kettle Night: The Salvation Army band will host a pregame concert at the Blues Flame Lounge on the BMO Harris Bank Center concourse, before performing the National Anthem for Saturday’s contest.
The Salvation Army is also staffing their Red Kettle posts on the BMO main concourse throughout the evening’s game, and fans who make a donation of at least $20 will receive two ticket vouchers for the following Tuesday home game on Dec. 12 when Rockford hosts an Illinois Lottery Cup Series matchup against the Chicago Wolves.
Tickets: Tickets can be purchased at the BMO Harris Bank Center Box Office or any Ticketmaster location, by phone (815-968-5222) or online at www.IceHogs.com
Next Home Game: The Rockford IceHogs take on the Chicago Wolves on Friday, December 1 at the BMO Harris Bank Center.
