ICEHOGS ANNOUNCE 2009-10 REGULAR SEASON SCHEDULE

Rockford’s home opener set for Oct. 16 against Chicago

Rockford, Ill.- The Rockford IceHogs, in conjunction with the American Hockey League, announced the team’s 2009-10 regular season schedule on Thursday. The IceHogs 80-game regular season will begin on Sunday, Oct. 4 in Peoria and conclude Saturday, April 10 in San Antonio.

After a five-game road swing to open the IceHogs’ 11th overall season and third in the AHL, the team will open the home portion of the campaign on Friday, Oct. 16 against the Chicago Wolves at the Rockford MetroCentre at 7:05 p.m. Nine of Rockford’s 13 scheduled games in October will be on the road.

Rockford will also close the slate out with a three game road trip to Texas in April. The road trip comes on the heels of the IceHogs longest homestand of the season which is seven games. The homestand will begin on Sunday, March 14 and conclude on Saturday, April 3.

Included in the IceHogs 40 game home schedule in ’09-10 are 11 Friday games and 16 Saturday contests. Rockford will also play two Sunday games, one tilt on Monday and Thursday each and nine overall Wednesday affairs. The IceHogs game on Monday, Feb. 15 will be a kids’ day game versus the Grand Rapids Griffins with a 2:05 p.m. start time. The only Thursday game scheduled falls on New Year’s Eve against the Houston Aeros.

All home games in 2009-10, with the exception of Feb. 15 and the two Sunday contests, will begin at 7:05 p.m. Doors to the MetroCentre will open one hour prior to face off for all games.

Individual game tickets for the IceHogs 11th season of professional hockey will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 9 at the MetroCentre Box Office, Hogs Headquarters inside CherryVale Mall, on-line through www.metrocentre.com or by phone at (815) 968-5222.
