IceHogs and Griffins Ramp Up Rivalry at BMO Harris Bank Center Tonight

Rockford, IL – The Rockford IceHogs, proud American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League (NHL), close a four-game homestand tonight at BMO Harris Bank Center against the Grand Rapids Griffins at 6:00. Tonight is the third of eight scheduled meetings between the two clubs.

Griffins…Good to See You…Again
The IceHogs will see the Griffins the next three consecutive games starting tonight and they just battled their Central Division foes last week Wednesday, falling 9-4 at BMO Harris Bank Center. After tonight, the IceHogs travel to Grand Rapids, MI for the first time this season on Saturday, Mar. 13 at 6 p.m. at Van Andel Area and close this three-game stretch on Tuesday, Mar. 16 at Grand Rapids.

Whole Lotta Griffins in March
In the Month of March, the IceHogs see the Griffins four times out of their 10 contests and only three times total in April and May (Apr. 10 at Grand Rapids, Apr. 28 at Grand Rapids, May 1 at Rockford).

Home Sweet Home
The IceHogs close a four-game homestand tonight at BMO Harris Bank Center against the Griffins. The Hogs are 2-1-0 on the homestand so far, dropping the first contest to Grand Rapids last week Wednesday and earning back-to-back wins over Iowa on Saturday (3-2) and Sunday (4-3 OT). The homestand is tied for the longest for the IceHogs this season with their previous four-game homestand from Feb. 16-23 vs. Chicago, Grand Rapids and Cleveland.

Preparing for Life on the Road
After tonight, the IceHogs will only have eight more scheduled home games at BMO Harris Bank Center and 12 contests on the road. The Hogs host Iowa on Marc. 19 & 20, Chicago on Mar. 28, Apr 7 & 17, Grand Rapids on May 1, Iowa on May 9 and close the home schedule on Friday, May 14 vs. Chicago.

Altybarmakian Gaining Confidence in Rookie Season
After being held to one assist in his first six AHL contests, IceHogs rookie forward Andrei Altybarmakian is feeling more comfortable in his role with the club, now riding a three-game point streak with four points (two goals, two assists) and has five points (three goals, two assists) in his last six games. He scored twice last Sunday vs. Iowa, including the game-winning goal in overtime.

Delia, Beaudin and Johnson Return to Blackhawks
In a whirlwind of transactions on Monday, the Chicago Blackhawks announced that goaltender Collin Delia had been recalled from his conditioning assignment with the IceHogs and forward Reese Johnson and defenseman Nicolas Beadin were also reassigned from the IceHogs to the NHL club. Delia earned both wins for the IceHogs over the weekend vs. Iowa, making 35 saves in a 3-2 win on Saturday and 27 stops in the 4-3 OT win on Sunday. Johnson one assist in his four games with the Hogs and Beaudin made a huge impact with six assists in four games with the IceHogs.

Mitchell Hits 499 Pro Games Today
Through 498 professional games in the NHL, AHL, ECHL and overseas, IceHogs team captain Garrett Mitchell has racked up 71 goals and 85 assists for 156 points.

The Rockford IceHogs travel to Grand Rapids, MI for their next two contests to battle the Griffins on Saturday, Mar. 13 at 6:00 p.m. and Tuesday, Mar. 16 at 6:00 p.m. at Van Andel Arena to complete their three-game miniseries.
