Fans can donate at upcoming IceHogs games
Rockford, Ill.- The Rockford IceHogs, in conjunction with the American Hockey League and its coaches, announced on Friday a league wide initiative to raise money to aid the victims in Haiti from the recent earthquake.
Fans can help raise funds for the relief efforts in Haiti through the American Red Cross beginning at Saturday’s IceHogs game at the MetroCentre. Donation jars will be placed throughout the MetroCentre beginning on Saturday, running through the IceHogs game on Wednesday, Feb. 3.
In addition to the donation jars, the IceHogs will donate $1 from every ticket purchased to Rockford’s game on Wednesday, Jan. 27 at the MetroCentre against the Hamilton Bulldogs. Tickets for the game can be purchased by calling (815) 968-5222, at the MetroCentre Box Office, on-line at www.metrocentre.com or at Hog Headquarters inside Cherryvale Mall.
All students with a valid ID and all kids can purchase tickets for $5 to Wednesday’s game sponsored by 104.9 FM, WXRX.
“Our head coaches have come together from across the league to take on this important initiative,” said AHL President and CEO David Andrews. “With more than 400,000 fans expected to be in attendance at games over the next two weeks, we have a terrific opportunity to make a much-needed contribution to the cause.”
