ICEHOGS AGREE TO TERMS WITH BARNES, LANGLOIS
Rockford, Ill. – The Rockford IceHogs announced on Saturday that they have agreed to terms with forwards Tyler Barnes and Jeremy Langlois on one-year AHL contracts for the 2016-17 season.
Barnes, 26, joins Rockford after playing in 69 games for the ECHL’s Missouri Mavericks last season. He posted 24 goals, tied for second on the club, and 37 assists for a team-leading 61 points to go along with 32 penalty minutes (PIM). Barnes appeared in 10 postseason games with Missouri, leading the team with five goals while finishing third with eight points. In 2014-15, Barnes led the Toledo Walleye (ECHL) with 74 points in 71 games and was second on the team with 34 goals.
A native of Burnsville, Mich., Barnes has scored four goals in 11 AHL games with Bridgeport, Grand Rapids, and San Antonio. Those totals include two goals in two games with Bridgeport last season.
Prior to joining the professional ranks, Barnes played four seasons (2010-14) for the University of Wisconsin Badgers. In 152 games, he notched 101 points on 45 goals and 56 assists. He was named to the WCHA All-Academic team as a sophomore in 2011-12, selected to the WCHA All-Academic and Academic All-Big 10 teams in 2012-13, and was named to the Academic All-Big 10 team in 2013-14. Barnes played 116 games for the Waterloo Black Hawks in the USHL from 2007-10, including tying for the league lead with 35 goals in 2009-10.
Langlois, 26, spent the last two seasons with the San Jose Sharks AHL affiliate – Worcester Sharks (2014-15) and San Jose Barracuda (2015-16). The 26 year-old collected 12 goals and 22 assists in 68 contests with the Barracuda last season.
Langlois has also seen brief stints with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers and Springfield Falcons. Overall, the Tempe, Arizona, native has compiled 30 goals and 34 assists across 122 career AHL games.
Prior to turning pro, Langlois skated four seasons at Quinnipiac University. He led Quinnipiac in scoring as a senior with 31 points (13g-18a) and helped the Bobcats to the National Championship game where they fell to Yale 4-0 on April 13, 2013. Langlois finished his collegiate career with 56 goals and 44 assists in 156 contests.
