IceHogs Add ECHL Top Scorer and AHL All-Star Gabriel Gagne on PTO
ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Rockford IceHogs, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League, announced today that forward Gabriel Gagne has signed with the club on a professional tryout agreement.
Gagne, 23, leads the ECHL with 24 goals and sits second on the Allen Americans (12thin the league) with 38 points over 36 contests. The Laval, Quebec native dressed in three AHL contests with the Ontario Reign earlier this season, registering one assist.
Last season, the 6-foot-5, 214-pound right winger split time in the AHL between the Belleville Senators and Toronto Marlies totaling 16 points (six goals, 10 assists) in 55 games. In 167 career AHL contests over four seasons with Binghamton, Belleville, Toronto and Ontario, Gagne scored 28 goals and 20 assists for 48 points and skated in the 2018 AHL All-Star Classic. Prior to turning pro, he competed in over three seasons in the QMJHL with Victoriaville and Shawinigan adding 132 points (68 goals, 64 assists) in 177 games.
Gagne was selected in the second round (36th overall) of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft by the Ottawa Senators.
