HOT HOGS SEEK TO GROUND GRIFFINS

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Rockford IceHogs hit the road for a Saturday evening matchup against the Grand Rapids Griffins at Van Andel Arena.
Puck drop is 6 p.m. and fans can tune in to all the action on Cozi TV 23.3 or Dish Network Channel 252, beginning with IceHogs Warmup at 5:30 p.m. IceHogs fans can also listen to the game at sportsfanradio1330.com or watch live at AHLlive.com (subscription required).
Matchup: The IceHogs (24-16-2-3, 2nd Central) leapfrogged the Iowa Wild into second place in the Central Division with a second straight victory last night against the Reign. Rockford, including Friday’s victory, has notched points in nine of its last 10 games with a 6-1-1-2 record since Jan. 6.
Newcomer forward John Hayden extended his point streak to a season-high five straight games with a goal and assist against the Reign. Hayden has tallied seven points (3g, 4a) during his current streak and found the scoresheet in all but two of his eight total games since making his team debut on Jan. 8.
Fellow Rockford winger Anthony Louis boasts an impressive streak of his own, taking the ice tonight with points in each of the Hogs’ first eight games against the Griffins in this season’s series. Louis leads the IceHogs in scoring against Grand Rapids with nine points (1g, 8a) in seven tilts with the Griffins in 2017-18.
Grand Rapids (21-18-1-4, 6th Central) has won back-to-back contests and enters Saturday with wins in seven of its last 10 outings. The Griffins have also triumphed in each of the last two matchups against the IceHogs, posting a 5-3 win on Jan. 5 and 4-3 victory on Jan. 20.
Forward Eric Tangradi paces all Grand Rapids skaters with nine points (5g, 4a) in eight games in the season series with the IceHogs. Matt Puempel and Matt Lorito follow with seven points apiece against Rockford, with Puempel notching three goals and four assists and Lorito potting two goals with five helpers this year.

The IceHogs take on the Central Division-leading Manitoba Moose on Friday, Feb. 2 for Jake Smolinski bobblehead night.
