HOLLANDS HEROICS HELP HOGS HAUNT MONSTERS
ROCKFORD, Ill. – Collin Delia stopped 33 of 35 pucks, Peter Holland netted the game-winner in overtime and the Rockford IceHogs thwarted the Cleveland Monsters 3-2 Saturday night at the BMO Harris Bank Center. With the victory, the IceHogs treated 5,311 fans to the ninth home win of their last 11 games at the BMO.
Jordan Schroeder began the final play of the game, picking up the puck along the glass and creating space for Holland to take off towards Cleveland’s net. Holland took the pass, skated up the left side and flipped the puck under Brad Thiessen’s stick for the game-winning goal.
With the tally, Holland has now tallied a team-high 56 points (24g, 32a) on the season and ranks tied for ninth among all AHL skaters in scoring this season.
Delia fended off 33 shots and a pair of power plays to pilot the Hogs past Cleveland. The netminder is now 4-1-0-0 over his last five games and has allowed two or fewer goals in 13 of his 20 AHL appearances this season.
Victor Ejdsell also scored with a quick deke on a breakaway in the first period, and Blake Hillman added his first AHL goal with a wrister from the left blue line in the second frame.
Cleveland’s Thiessen made 30 saves on 33 shots in the defeat.
