Breast Cancer Awareness Night to feature special jerseys
Rockford, Ill.-The ice surface at the Rockford MetroCentre will be getting a makeover on Saturday. Fans will be greeted by pink ice when the Rockford IceHogs take on the San Antonio Rampage at 7:05 p.m. for the team’s Pink in the Rink Night for breast cancer awareness.
The IceHogs will also wear special pink jerseys which will be raffled and auctioned off during the game. Five of the player’s jerseys will be raffled off during the game. Raffle tickets will be available for $5 per ticket or five tickets for $20.
The rest of the IceHogs special pink game worn jerseys will be available for bid during a blind-silent auction where fans can submit bids for their favorite player.
Fire and Ice Girls will also be selling raffle tickets for two pink jerseys. Raffle tickets for the jerseys will be sold for $1 or six for $5. All auctions and raffles will be cut off following the second intermission.
Winners of the jerseys will be announced during the third period and all winners will be presented with their jersey on the ice immediately following Saturday’s game.
All proceeds from this year’s Pink in the Rink Night will benefit breast cancer research, including Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Mary Kay Foundation, SwedishAmerican Hospital and Healing Pathways Cancer Resource Center.
The first 2,500 fans to the game will receive a special Pink in the Rink T-shirt courtesy of T6 Broadband, Rock Valley Federal Credit Union, Q98.5 and WREX-TV.
