Rockford, Ill. – The Rockford IceHogs utilized a four-goal offensive output to defeat the Manitoba Moose, 4-2, and snap their nine-game winless skid Saturday night at the BMO Harris Bank Center.
The victory was the first for the IceHogs since a 5-4 shootout win versus Texas on Nov. 19. Rockford went 0-5-1-3 during the drought, which tied for the longest winless streak in franchise history (also 2001).
Tanner Kero and Nick Schmaltz each notched two points with a goal and an assist to pace the offense. Kero tied the game on a power-play goal in the first period and Schmaltz added a shorthanded, breakaway goal as the game-winner midway through the third period to give Rockford a 3-1 edge.
Luke Johnson scored his second goal in three games and Mark McNeill also lit the lamp for the fifth time this season.
Mac Carruth made 29 saves to earn his second win of the campaign while also snapping a personal seven-game winless streak.
