HOGS SEEK TO SWEEP WOLVES IN GAME 3 OF CALDER CUP PLAYOFFS
ROSEMONT, Ill. -- The Rockford IceHogs head to Rosemont aiming for their third straight win in the 2018 Calder Cup playoffs to eliminate the Chicago Wolves at Allstate Arena Thursday night. The Hogs took a 2-1 Game 1 win on the Wolves’ ice on Saturday before doubling their series lead with a 5-2 victory in Rockford the next day.
Puck drop is at 7 p.m. and fans can tune in to all the action on 23.2 Antenna TV, beginning with IceHogs Warmup at 6:30 p.m. IceHogs fans can also listen to the game at sportsfanradio1330.com or watch live at AHLlive.com (subscription required).
Matchup: The IceHogs take on the Wolves with wins in their first two 2018 postseason meetings.
Defensemen Adam Clendening (1g-3a-4pts) and Cody Franson (0g-3a-3pts) pace the team’s scoring efforts, with each of their tallies coming on Rockford’s power play. The IceHogs have gone 5-for-12 with the man-advantage through their opening two contests.
In goal, Collin Delia has held steadfast for the Hogs, stopping 59 of 62 shots en route to two wins in his first taste of postseason play. Since Feb. 18, Delia has helped Rockford to points in 14 of his last 15 appearances, going 12-1-2 over that stretch.
Chicago enters tonight’s tilt on the brink of elimination, but will look to step up on home ice to stay alive.
Forward Zac Leslie leads the Wolves with a goal and two assists thus far, and is joined by T.J. Tynan (0g-2a-2pts) as the only Chicago players to record points in each of the two games. Teemu Pulkkinen was held off the scoresheet in Game 2, but found twine in Game 1 after torching the Hogs for 9g-5a-14pts in 12 regular-season meetings.
Netminder Oscar Dansk started both Games 1 and 2 for Chicago, but has given up six goals across the two outings. Dansk never suffered consecutive regulation-time losses in his 20 regular-season starts.
