ROCKFORD, Ill. -- The Rockford IceHogs seek to rebound from their first loss of the 2017-18 season as they host the reigning Calder Cup champion Grand Rapids Griffins Friday at the BMO Harris Bank Center.

Matchup: The IceHogs host the Griffins in the first of 10 total matchups between the teams during the 2017-18 season. Rockford has posted a .500-or-better record at home against the Griffins in nine of the 10 all-time season series between the teams, and boasts an overall record on its home ice of 22-11-1-1.
Rookie forward Matthew Highmore currently leads the IceHogs in points and ranks second in the AHL in rookie scoring with 3g-2a-5pts in three game. Highmore has found the scoresheet in each of his first three professional games, including potting a pair of goals against Iowa in the IceHogs’ home opener Saturday, Oct. 14. In net, Rockford goaltender J.F. Berube is unbeaten through two starts with a 2.00 GAA and .937 save percentage.
Grand Rapids enters Friday at 2-2-0-0 and having dropped its most recent contest via a 4-0 shutout at Stockton. The Griffins are led in scoring by Turner Elson, who ranks tied for third in the entire AHL with seven points on the season, and also feature defenseman Dan Renouf, who ranks first on the team and second in the league with 15 penalty minutes this year.
