HOGS RAISE $22,875 FOR BREAST CANCER RESEARCH

Vs GR Svendsen Pinkinthe Rink

Rockford, Ill. – With the BMO Harris Bank Center decked out in pink on Saturday, Jan. 19 for the Rockford IceHogs 4th Annual Pink in the Rink game, a sold out crowd was treated to a wild contest while helping support breast cancer research.

More than 6,200 IceHog faithful packed the BMO Harris Bank Center to watch the IceHogs take on their Midwest Division rival Grand Rapids Griffins while wearing special pink jerseys and playing on a pink ice surface. All the generous fans in attendance helped the club raise $22,875, with a portion of the proceeds going to charity.

The proceeds from this year’s Pink in the Rink Night will benefit the American Cancer Society, Mary Kay Foundation and the IceHogs Charitable Foundation.

The pink jerseys were auctioned and raffled off during the game with the winning bidder getting the jersey and the opportunity to get it signed by the player following the tilt. Goaltender Carter Hutton’s sweater had the highest bid in the blind silent auction.

Over the past four seasons, the annual Pink in the Rink game has raised $81,596 for breast cancer research.

Sponsors for this year’s game were Dickerson and Nieman Realtors, Divine Weddings and DJ Services Inc., Ferrelgas, Metropolitan Title Agency and Rasmussen College.
