Hogs Host Second Annual Hockey Fights Cancer Night

ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Rockford IceHogs will be helping in the fight against cancer throughout the month of November, with the team’s efforts culminating in their second annual Hockey Fights Cancer ™ (HFC) Night on Friday, Nov. 29 against the Chicago Wolves at 7 p.m. at the BMO Harris Bank Center. In addition, the team is partnering with Love Your Melon to raise money for pediatric cancer care and research.

HOCKEY FIGHTS CANCER NIGHT

Since 1998, Hockey Fights Cancer, a joint initiative of the NHL and NHL Players' Association, has been uniting the hockey community in support of cancer patients and their families. Throughout the evening on Nov. 29, the IceHogs will be honoring and recognizing those whose lives have been impacted by cancer. Fans are encouraged to wear lavender to the game to join the support of the Hockey Fights Cancer initiative. “I Fight For” signs will also be available in the Fan Zone to honor family, friends and loved ones who have been affected the disease.

Jersey Auction: The IceHogs will don limited-edition lavender Hockey Fights Cancer themed jerseys for the contest, and the specialty sweaters will be auctioned off throughout the game, with proceeds benefitting SwedishAmerican Foundation. Fans will have several different options to bid on the Hockey Fights Cancer jerseys:

• Fans in attendance can bid via blind-silent auction in the concourse in front of the jersey wall behind section 123. The blind-silent auction will close with five minutes remaining in the second intermission.
• Two jerseys will be available in the IceHogs jersey raffle. Raffle tickets are $5 or six tickets for $25.
• Three jerseys will be made available on the IceHogs app through DASH, an online auction platform. Bidding will open on Friday at 4 p.m. and conclude on Saturday, Nov. 30 at noon.
• Three jerseys will be auctioned on the IceHogs eBay page beginning Tuesday, Dec. 3.

In support of the Hockey Fights Cancer initiative, the IceHogs are teaming up with Love Your Melon in an effort to battle pediatric cancer. Beanies will be available to be picked up at the Ticket Services Table behind section 206 (next to Oink Outfitters) beginning on Nov. 29.

Each ticket sold through this special offer supports Love Your Melon's program to give a hat to every child battling cancer in America. Fifty percent of proceeds of all Love Your Melon products is given to Love Your Melon's nonprofit partners. To date, the company has donated over $6 million. Love Your Melon's nonprofit partners work in pediatric oncology, fund cancer research initiatives and provide immediate support for families of children battling cancer.
