Hogs winless in seven straightRockford, Ill.- The Rockford IceHogs fell to the Chicago Wolves 4-1 tonight at the Rockford MetroCentre in front of a sold out crowd of 6,616. Rockford stretched its winless streak to a season low seven straight (0-5-1-1) while the Wolves ran its winning streak to seven.
In the first, Joel Kwiatkowski punched through his 17th goal of the season on a power play at 18:02. Jason Krog and Grant Lewis had the assists.
Brett Sterling put in his league-leading 28th goal of the campaign on a 2-on-2 at 4:12 in the second period. Bryan Little contributed with a near-perfect set-up from the top of the near circle.
Little took his turn with a marker at 12:47 in the second to make the score 3-0. Darren Haydar was credited with the assist.
But the Hogs have responded. Bryan Bickell stuck through a goal at 5:15 in the second, with assists from Kris Versteeg and Colin Fraser.
But the Wolves' Brian Fahey slapped the puck past Corey Crawford on a power play at 8:33 in the third to make the score 4-1. Nathan Oystrick and Alexandre Giroux had the assists.
Neither team performed well on the advantage. The Hogs were 1-for-8, while the Wolves finished 2-for-7. Corey Crawford took the loss. He had 24 saves, while Ondrej Pavelec had 33 saves.
