Wolves advance to face the Toronto Marlies in the Western Conference Finals

ROSEMONT, Ill.-
The Rockford IceHogs fell to the Chicago Wolves 4-1 in Game 7 of the West Division Finals. In true Chicago fashion, the Wolves put two power play goals in the net in the first two periods and held off the Hogs for the win.

The mantra around the IceHogs locker room all week has been "stay out of the box." But Rockford's first two penalties resulted in Chicago's first two goals.

Jesse Schultz put the puck in the back of the net while Jim Fahey was in the box at 18:27 in the first period. The score came off of a rebound from a shot by Joe Motzko. Brian Fahey also contributed a helper.

Then in the second, Jason Krog put one through at 7:23 with helpers from Darren Haydar and Nathan Oystrick.

And in the third frame, Bryan Little made the score 3-0 with his fourth marker of the postseason at 8:57. Motzko was credited with the helper.

Kris Versteeg cut the lead to 3-1 with his sixth goal of the Calder Cup playoffs at 13:22. Jim Fahey and Jerramie Domish had the helpers.

But the Wolves tacked on an empty-net goal from Colin Stuart at 18:36 in the third to make the final 4-1.

Crawford had 19 saves in the losing effort, while Ondrej Pavelec stopped 38 shots for the win. The Wolves were 2-3 in the power play, while Rockford finished without a goal in two attempts.
