Hot Hog: Week 6
Ben Smith, Right Wing
Coming off an injury last season, Ben Smith got off to a slow start in 2012-13 as he was held off the scoring chart in 10 of the IceHogs first 12 games before Week 6. The winger got things going in Week 6, recording points in all three of Rockford’s tilts. Smith dished out an assist on Wednesday in an attempt to push Rockford over Peoria, but eventually the Rivermen squeaked out a 5-4 win. Then, the Avon, Conn. native sealed the deal for the IceHogs on Friday, notching the game-winning marker in the Hogs 2-1 victory over Houston. The third-year pro came back in Sunday’s rematch against the Aeros and registered his second multi-point game of the season with a goal and assist.
