Hockey Fights Cancer Captains' Patch Auction

To commemorate the 10th Anniversary of Hockey Fights Cancer, the National Hockey League Players' Association and the National Hockey League are conducting a unique auction of game-worn jerseys with proceeds benefiting Hockey Fights Cancer.

During the weekend of January 11-13, 2008 the hockey community joined forces once again to support Hockey Fights Cancer. As part of this important initiative, a special jersey featuring a commemorative Hockey Fights Cancer patch was worn and signed by the captains of all 30 NHL Member Clubs to underscore their team’s pledge to fight cancer.

The 2008 Hockey Fights Cancer Captains’ Patch Game-worn Jersey Auction features jerseys game-worn and signed by NHL team captains including: DANIEL ALFREDSSON, JASON ARNOTT, ROB BLAKE, ROD BRIND’AMOUR, ZDENO CHARA, SIDNEY CROSBY, SHANE DOAN, ADAM FOOTE, BILL GUERIN, BOBBY HOLIK, JAROME IGINLA, JAROMIR JAGR, RYAN JOHNSON(not signed), OLLI JOKINEN, SAKU KOIVU, IAN LAPERRIERE, MARTIN LAPOINTE, JAMIE LANGENBRUNNER, VINCENT LECAVALIER, NICKLAS LIDSTROM, PATRICK MARLEAU, ETHAN MOREAU (not signed), BRENDEN MORROW, MARKUS NASLUND, ALEXANDER OVECHKIN, CHRIS PRONGER, MATS SUNDIN, NICK SCHULTZ, JASON SMITH and BRIAN CAMPBELL!

Each autographed jersey has been security-tagged, serial numbered and registered into the NHL-MeiGray Group Game-Worn Jersey Authentication Program. Each jersey comes with a Letter of Authenticity from the NHL and NHLPA. The auction will launch on January 17, 2008 at 6:00 PM EST and end on January 31, 2008 at 9:00 PM EST.

Everyone knows someone who has been touched by cancer. Our hockey family is no exception. Hockey Fights Cancer is a joint initiative founded in December 1998 by the National Hockey League Players' Association and the National Hockey League to raise money and awareness for hockey’s most important fight. The 2007-08 season will mark the 10th Anniversary of Hockey Fights Cancer. Hockey Fights Cancer is supported by NHL Member Clubs, NHL Alumni, the NHL Officials' Association, Professional Hockey Trainers and Equipment Managers, corporate marketing partners, broadcast partners and fans throughout North America. To date, Hockey Fights Cancer has raised more than $9.5 million.
