Cedar Park, Tex.-Chicago Blackhawks General Manager of Minor League Affiliations Mark Bernard announced on Saturday that the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs released defenseman Dan Henningson from his PTO.

Henningson appeared in Friday’s 4-1 win at Houston and was a +1. In 23 games with the ECHL’s Chicago Express, Henningson has totaled three points (1g-2a). The Edmonton, Alberta native has also appeared in five contests with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton this season, tallying an assist on Dec. 17 against Norfolk.

The defenseman has 15 games of AHL experience under his belt with the Lake Erie Monsters (2008-09) and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (2011-12).

Last season, Henningson appeared in 68 tilts for the Wheeling Nailers, recording 18 points (5g-13a). The 27 year-old also paced all Nailers d-men and tied for sixth best among all skaters in the ECHL with a plus/minus rating of +19.

Next Home Game: Monday, Jan. 16 vs. Texas Stars. Game time is 1:05 p.m. The IceHogs return home for the first time in more than two weeks for the annual Martin Luther King Jr. matinee game to take on the Stars for the second and final time at the BMO Harris Bank Center.
