The Chicago Blackhawks today announced the team has acquired a second round draft choice in the 2010 National Hockey League Entry Draft from the Montreal Canadiens (via the Toronto Maple Leafs) in exchange for center Robert Lang.

"Robert is a quality guy and we appreciate that he gave us everything that he had but this move gives one of our great young players an opportunity to step up," Blackhawks General Manager Dale Tallon said. "We are excited about adding a second round draft pick in 2010 as we continue with our philosophy of building from within."

Lang, 37, ranked second on the Blackhawks with 33 assists and shared third with 21 goals and 54 points in 76 games last season after signing with the club as a free agent on July 2, 2007. A veteran of 15 NHL seasons, he has notched 635 points (234 goals, 401 assists) in 875 career regular-season contests and 45 points (18 goals, 27 assists) in 87 career Stanley Cup Playoff tilts.

The Blackhawks will launch training camp in preparation of the 2008-09 season with a media day at the United Center on Fri., Sept. 19 before hitting the ice for the first time on Sat., Sept. 20. Throughout the day on Saturday, the team will also host its first-ever Training Camp Festival at the United Center from 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., which includes a 5K Run/Walk/Skate, a 3-On-3 Street Hockey Tournament and a public Blackhawks practice, plus live music and an interactive games area. All events, including the practice, are open to the public.
