Chicago, Ill.- The Chicago Blackhawks announced on Tuesday that they have re-signed defenseman Jordan Hendry to a two-year contract and signed free agent defenseman Tim Hambly to a one-year deal.
Originally signed by Chicago as a free agent on July 17, 2006, the 24-year old Hendry (6-0, 196) spent the end of the 2005-06 season and all of the 2006-07 campaign with the Norfolk Admirals. He started the 2007-08 season with the Rockford IceHogs, before making his NHL debut on Jan. 9 against the Dallas Stars.
During his rookie year in the NHL, Hendry played in 40 games and tabbed four points off one goal and three assists. Starting with his professional debut on March 19, 2006, Hendry has not missed a single regular season game (178, including 85 between the Hawks and Hogs in 2007-08). After taking a stick to the face against Iowa in the final regular season game of 2007-08, the Lanigan, Saskatchewan native returned to play the final game of the 2008 Calder Cup Division Finals against Chicago on March 13, 2008.
Hendry played four collegiate seasons with Alaska-Fairbanks in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association.
Hambly (6-0, 190), 24, appeared in 72 games scoring four goals and 26 assists for 30 points and 40 penalty minutes for the Quad City Flames of the AHL last season. A native of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, he spent four years at the University of Minnesota-Duluth (2001-05) appearing in 141 games while scoring 13 goals and 47 assists for 60 points and 132 penalty minutes.
After concluding his college career, he has played for Las Vegas of the ECHL and Iowa, Omaha and Quad City of the AHL. Hambly has appeared in 186 career AHL games where he recorded eight goals, 57 assists and 105 penalty minutes.
