The Chicago Blackhawks have claimed defenseman Doug Janik on waivers from the Dallas Stars and have traded him back to the Stars in exchange for a conditional draft pick.
The Blackhawks launch their 2008-09 regular season when they face off against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden on Friday at 6 P.M. (CT). Chicago’s 41-game home slate begins when the squad battles the Nashville Predators at the United Center on Monday at 7:30 P.M.
