Rockford, Ill. - Hammy will be all over the Rockford area during this Memorial Day holiday weekend. Highlighting the weekend is the Young at Heart Parade in Loves Park on Saturday.
Young at Heart is a celebration of music, culture and festivities supporting Loves Park’s heritage. Family activities, games, and live music will be going on at the festival. The parade kicks off at the Woodward Governor Forest Hills gate and then heads north on N. Second St. from Woodward Governor at Boylston Street, then proceeds to Theodore Street. Hammy will be arriving at 9 a.m. to sign autographs and participate in the festivities.
From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Hammy will be at King Elementary School to promote the school’s end-of-year fun fair. Students will have a chance to play street hockey with the mascot as he will be promoting the IceHogs’ “Street Hockey Initiative”. This is designed to teach kids about street hockey, safety when playing hockey and the healthy benefits of being active outside.
Finally, Hammy will visit Northwest Community Center for Rosie’s Birthday Club on Wednesday from 4-5 p.m. The organization provides birthday parties to underprivileged children. Hammy will be signing autographs and participating in various activities.
