Hakkarainen Reassigned to Rockford
ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Chicago Blackhawks today reassigned forward Mikael Hakkarainen from the ECHL's Indy Fuel to the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs.
Hakkarainen, 21, was assigned to Indy on Dec. 11 and posted four points (2g, 2a) in three games with the Fuel. He scored a goal in his ECHL debut Dec. 12 vs. Toledo and notched a three-point effort with a marker and two assists two games later on Dec. 14 vs. Kalamazoo.
The Helsinki, Finland native returns to Rockford where he has skated in one game with the IceHogs. He made his professional debut on Oct. 4 at Iowa before being sidelined with an injury.
Hakkarainen was originally selected by Chicago in the fifth round (139th overall) of the 2018 NHL Draft. He suited up with Muskegon in the United States Hockey League last season, notching 47 points (19g, 28a) in 42 games during the regular season and leading the team with four goals in nine playoff contests.
