GOTOVETS AGREES TO AHL DEAL WITH ROCKFORD
D-man back in the fold for second season
Rockford, Ill.-Chicago Blackhawks General Manager of Minor League Affiliations Mark Bernard announced on Friday that defenseman Kirill Gotovets has agreed to an American Hockey League contract with the Rockford IceHogs for the 2015-16 season.
Gotovets, 23, split his first full professional season between the IceHogs and the ECHL’s Indy Fuel. The Minsk, Belarus native skated in 12 regular season games with Rockford, notching a goal and an assist. The rearguard also appeared in eight Calder Cup Playoff games and buried the game winning goal in Rockford’s Game 1 win over the Texas Stars in the Western Conference Quarterfinals.
In 47 outings with the Fuel, Gotovets accumulated 7g-6a-13pts. Prior to turning pro, Gotovets skated four season at Cornell University and made his pro debut with the Milwaukee Admirals at the tail-end of the 2013-14 regular season.
Gotovets was originally selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the seventh round (#183 overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
