Puckstopper was 1-1-0 in three games with Rockford

Rockford, Ill.-
The Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League and goalie Dan Cloutier have mutually agreed to release the netminder from his professional try-out agreement, Chicago Blackhawks General Manager of Minor League Affiliations Mark Bernard announced on Tuesday.

“Dan has worked very hard to get himself back into shape over the last month,” said Bernard. “He has been a role model for our younger players in the locker room but at this time he has made the decision to step away from hockey for the time being.”

Cloutier, 33, has appeared in three games with Rockford, finishing with a 1-1-0 record, .893 save percentage and 2.47 goals against average. The Mont-Laurier, Quebec native had previously been away from hockey for 18 months recovering from hip surgery.

The veteran goaltender has appeared in 351 National Hockey League games between the New York Rangers, Tampa Bay, Vancouver and Los Angeles. He has a career record of 139-142-33 in the NHL with an .899 save percentage and 2.77 goals against average.

He was selected #26 overall (Round 1) by the New York Rangers in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft, making his professional debut with the AHL’s Binghamton Rangers in 1996-97.

Next Home Game: Thursday, Dec. 31 vs. Houston Aeros. Game time is 7:05 p.m. Celebrate the New Year as the Rockford IceHogs take on the Houston Aeros for the first time at the Rockford MetroCentre.
