GOALIE ALEC RICHARDS RECALLED TO ROCKFORD

Rockford, Ill.- Chicago Blackhawks General Manager of Minor League Affiliations Mark Bernard announced on Friday that the Chicago Blackhawks have reassigned goalie Alec Richards to the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League from the Toledo Walleye of the ECHL.

Richards, 22, made two starts for Toledo since being reassigned to the team on Sunday, stopping 41 shots in a shootout loss on Sunday and then following it up with a 31-save win on Wednesday.

The Robbinsdale, Minn. native made his American Hockey League debut on Nov. 25 in Rockford's 2-1 loss to the Manitoba Moose at the Rockford MetroCentre and then earned his first AHL win on Nov. 27 in Rockford's 4-3 victory in Grand Rapids.

He has appeared in nine games with Toledo during his first professional season, carrying a 5-1-0-3 record in 2009-10 with a .909 save percentage and a 2.78 goals against average.

He is expected to be in Grand Rapids for Rockford’s game against the Griffins at 6 p.m. tonight.

Saturday is the IceHogs Annual Teddy Bear Toss for charity. Fans are invited to bring new stuffed animals to the game and after the IceHogs score their first goal, fans can toss the stuffed animals onto the ice. Also, the first 2,500 fans to the game will receive an IceHogs Jersey Bag from Rockford Orthopedic, BOB FM and 23 WIFR.
