GLASS POWERS HOGS TO THIRD STRAIGHT WIN
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Jeff Glass stopped 33 pucks, Tomas Jurco and Carl Dahlstrom each notched multi-point outings and the Rockford IceHogs skated to a 4-1 victory over the Grand Rapids Griffins at Van Andel Arena Friday night. Rockford's win marked its third in a row, and moves its 2017-18 record against Grand Rapids to 4-0-0-0.
With the victory, Glass has now won eight of his last 10 starts between the pipes for the Hogs.
After allowing the game's first goal to Matt Puempel of the Griffins, Rockford responded three minutes later as Jurco wired a quick snapshot on a rush to knot the game at one before the end of the first period. Dahlstrom and David Kampf earned assists on the play.
In the middle frame, Andreas Martinsen struck with a seeing-eye shot past Griffins netminder Jared Coreau to give the Hogs the lead. The winger has now scored in two of his last three games.
Neither team gave an inch for the majority of the third period, but Robin Norell found twine for his first goal of the season with just under two minutes to play to give Rockford a 3-1 lead. Luke Johnson added an empty-net tally a minute later to ice the Hogs' win.
Glass' 33 saves marked his highest total in five starts. Coreau turned aside 23 of 26 Rockford shots at the other end.
