Gilbert Reassigned to IceHogs
ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Chicago Blackhawks today announced they have reassigned defenseman Dennis Gilbert to the American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs.
Gilbert, 23, has appeared in three games with the Blackhawks this season, recording two shots on goal and 17 hits. He last skated with Chicago on Oct. 29 at Nashville and his 6.5 hits per game are nearly twice that of any other Blackhawks skater this season.
The Buffalo, New York native originally made his professional debut with the IceHogs last season, logging 14 points (5g, 9a) in 63 AHL games. He led Rockford with 67 penalty minutes and was tabbed the team’s Most Improved Player after nearly doubling his first-half point production with nine points over his final 26 contests of the season. Gilbert then earned his first career promotion to the NHL with Chicago on April 2 and posted a game-high six hits the following night in his NHL debut vs. St. Louis.
Gilbert returns to the IceHogs with one shot on goal and a +1 rating over three AHL contests this year.
Next Home Game: Friday, Nov. 8 vs. Manitoba Moose | 7 p.m.
The Rockford IceHogs cap a five-game homestand with $2 beer night at the BMO Harris Bank Center. Budweiser and Bud Light beer will be available for just $2 at most concessions on the concourse.
